The outback, it’s a bit different than I thought.
First of all, there are heaps of rest areas, where you are allowed to camp and lite a fire. Many of them have water tanks.
Then a lot of Australians are traveling right now. Going from the cold south to the warm north. They stay at those rest areas.
That’s why, I meet a lot of people and it’s not nearly as lonely as I thought. All those people are super friendly. I often get invited to tea or even dinner. And they really take care on the road and a lot of them greet me.
The road trains are longer than expected, but they too take extra care while overtaking, using the other lane.
The landscape is pretty flat and boring, but still it’s a nice cycle. I listen to music or audio books.
The sunrises and sunsets are just stunning.
It’s rains more than expected, a lot of people call it the wettest dry season in years. It rained in some places for the first time since 2003.
In the morning it’s still pretty cold.
The stary sky is unbelievable.
I have to say I enjoy traveling the outback for now, even though it’s a bit different than I thought.
